The Japanese word "reki" in "reki-jyo" is the abbreviation of "rekishi (meaning history)" and "jyo" is another pronunciation of "onna (meaning female)". "Reki-jyo" generally indicates females who love to learn history and visit historic places.
In recent years, the more games feature Japanese history and historic figures, the more females get into their activities as reki-jyo. Currently, the number of reki-jyo is much larger than it has been at any time in the past.
