"Yama Girl" is one of female classifications and indicates "females who love climbing mountains". Japanese people once believed that most of the climbers were supposed to be males. To be sure, it might be difficult for females to conquer formidable mountains.
However, in recent years, many females have come to enjoy climbing mountains wearing rather casual, or even fashionable clothes. These days, mountaineering has become considered to be a relatively carefree and enjoyable hobby for Yama Girls.
