Ogasawara Islands consist of about 30 islands in the Pacific Ocean. They belong to Tokyo Prefecture (refer to #036) but are 1,000 kilometers away from the center of Tokyo. They are the southernmost islands in Japan.

The islands are collectively listed as one of The UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They have many endemic species of creatures and vegetation, and are also listed as a national park by the Japanese government.
