Bowing is called "ojigi" in Japanese. Ojigi is very important manners in this country especially among business people. In general, Japanese tend to bow at an angle of between 15 and 45 degrees. At least 15 degrees is needed and 45 degree is most polite.
If you have an opportunity to do business with Japanese, you should know proper manners. Be careful not to do ojigi while walking because it is considered to be impolite.
