#243: Loose Socks (Semiweekly-pedia of Japan)

#243: JK (category: girl student)

High school girl students are usually called Jyoshi Kosei in Japan. The Japanese word "Jyoshi" is equal to "girl(s)" in English and "Kosei" is abbreviation of "Kokosei (meaning high school students)".

In recent years, they are often called JK, which is an acronym of Jyoshi Kosei. The girl wearing a school uniform and loose socks (refer to #242) has been the most common image of JK since 1990s.
