Dojinshi are usually book-style works (comics, novels, etc.) created for the people whose tastes are similar to the author's. Not only amateur creators but also professionals often make dojinshi for pleasure, or for business.

Comiket, Comic Market held at Tokyo Big Sight (refer to #350), has been attracting more and more people who want to buy dojinshi. A small fraction of dojinshi titles sell very well, and each of such titles sometimes sells more than tens of thousands of copies.
