#405: Iriomote-jima (category: island)
Iriomote-jima or Iriomote Island is an island belonging to Okinawa Prefecture (refer to #065). It is the second largest island in the prefecture after Okinawa main island. It is closer to Taiwan than to Okinawa main island.
Iriomote-jima has primeval forests and many rare endemic creatures, represented by Iriomote cat (Iriomote Yamaneko in Japanese), inhabit there. This island comprises Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park with Ishigaki-jima.
