Cape Soya is the northernmost place in the Hokkaido island (refer to #061). Also, in many cases, it is regarded as the northernmost place where the general public can visit in Japan.

A stone monument, topped with two slender pyramids leaning on each other, indicating "The Northernmost Point of Japan" is standing at this cape. Beside that, several important monuments are also found in this area.
