Mount Osore (or Osore-zan in Japanese) is an active volcano, located in Shimokita Peninsula, the northernmost area of Honshu Island (refer to #062).
The Bodai-ji temple, standing by Lake Usori (caldera lake) on the mountain, is one of the most spiritually sacred places in Japan. The mountain is sometimes believed to lead to the posthumous world.
