Hirosaki Castle, located in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, is one of 12 Existing Tenshu in Japan. (The word "Tenshu" means the highest tower in a Japanese castle.)

The castle is designated as an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese government. Also, the late Ryotaro Shiba, one of the best-loved Japanese novelists, chose it as one of the seven greatest castles in the country.
