Matsue Castle, located in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, is one of 12 Existing Tenshu in Japan. (The word "Tenshu" means the highest tower in a Japanese castle.)

It is one of the five castles, whose tenshu is designated as a National Treasure by the Japanese government. The castle is overlooking Lake Shinji, the seventh largest lake in the country.
