#685: Utamaro (category: artist)
Utamaro Kitagawa is often regarded as one of the five greatest ukiyo-e artists during the Edo period, along with Hiroshige (refer to #684), Sharaku, Hokusai, and Kuniyoshi.
He is well-known especially for his Bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) with skillfully delicate lines, and his masterpieces have been loved not only in Japan but also worldwide.
