#686: Sharaku (category: artist)
Sharaku Toshusai is often regarded as one of the five greatest ukiyo-e artists during the Edo period, along with Hiroshige (refer to #684), Utamaro (refer to #685), Hokusai, and Kuniyoshi.
He was active as an artist only for 10 months and disappeared. Although Sharaku's identity is still shrouded in mystery, his works have been well-known and loved not only in Japan but also worldwide.
