#687: Hokusai (category: artist)
Hokusai Katsushika is often regarded as one of the five greatest ukiyo-e artists during the Edo period, along with Hiroshige (refer to #684), Utamaro (refer to #685), Sharaku (refer to #686), and Kuniyoshi.
He drew no less than 30,000 pictures in his lifetime. He was the only Japanese who was selected in the list of "Life's 100 most important people of the second millennium".
