Happi Japan

Happi is a Japanese traditional clothing. Japanese craftspeople and volunteers for a local fire department wear it during their work. Also, even ordinary people tend to wear it at the day of matsuri (Japanese festivals), regardless of their age and sex.

Coincidently, the Japanese pronunciation of this clothes "happi" is very close to "happy" in English. So, foreigners often misunderstand its name as "happy". No one can wear "happy" itself, of course, but the clothes can be a symbol of happy feeling because people wear it during a delightful matsuri.
