#119: Shinkansen (category: railway line)
Shinkansen is the fastest train service in Japan and is also called "Bullet Train" or "Superexpress". Its first route Tokaido Shinkansen, connecting Tokyo (refer to # 036) and Osaka (refer to #037), was complete in time for Tokyo Olympics (held in 1964).
Nowadays, several Shinkansen routes have been developed and still developing in a few areas. Its stylish, streamlined shapes are very popular, especially among children and travelers from abroad.
