#180: Takashimaya (category: department store)
Takashimaya is one of the most established department store chains in Japan. It originated in Kyoto (refer to #035) and now has branches not only in Japanese major cities but also in several cities abroad.
Unlike many of the other major department store chains, Takashimaya has yet to merge with another chain. The word "Takashima" in "Takashimaya" is a place name in Shiga Prefecture (refer to #139). It is a home town of the founder's family.
