#220: Kenroku-en (category: great garden)
Kenroku-en is a garden located in Kanazawa City (refer to #219), Ishikawa Prefecture. It is regarded as one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, along with Koraku-en in Okayama Prefecture (refer to #140) and Kairaku-en in Ibaraki Prefecture (refer to #137).
The word "kenroku" derives from ancient Chinese literature and it means "to have six factors". As its name indicates, the garden has six important factors of an ideal garden; vastness, tranquility, artificiality, maturity, waterside, and view.
