Hokosha Tengoku (literally meaning "pedestrian heaven") is a Japanese word indicating what is generally known as a pedestrian zone in many countries. Also, not a few people often call it "Hoko-ten", the abbreviation for "Hokosha Tengoku".
In Japan, Hokosha Tengoku in major downtown areas such as Akihabara (refer to #330), Shinjuku (refer to #111), and Ginza, are especially famous. You will see numerous crowds on these streets during holidays.
