Goto Islands comprise an archipelago consisting of about 140 islands. They are located to the west of the northwestern part of the Kyushu island (refer to #063). All of them belong to Nagasaki Prefecture.

Many Christians have lived in these islands, even during the persecution of Christians in Japan (between the 17th and the 19th centuries). So, there are many historically significant churches in this archipelago.
