Hikone Castle, located in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, is one of 12 Existing Tenshu in Japan. (The word "Tenshu" means the highest tower in a Japanese castle.)

It is one of the five castles, whose tenshu is designated as a National Treasure by the Japanese government. The castle is located to the east of Lake Biwa (refer to #483).
