#689: Toyokuni the First (category: artist)
Toyokuni Utagawa the First was an apprentice of Toyoharu Utagawa, the originator of the Utagawa school, the most influential group of ukiyo-e artists in the late Edo period.
Kuniyoshi Utagawa (refer to #688) was an apprentice of Toyokuni the First. Also, Hiroshige Utagawa (refer to #684) wanted to study under Toyokuni the First but could not, because of no vacancy in the school.
