#991: Gifu (category: prefecture)
Gifu Prefecture is located on the western edge of the Chubu region (refer to #138). Nobunaga Oda, the most powerful warlord in the 16th century, named it.
The Historic Village of Shirakawa-go in this prefecture is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
