#699: Kaii (category: artist)
Kaii Higashiyama is often regarded as one of the most famous and the most popular Japanese painters in the Japanese history. He was born in 1908 and died in 1999.
The uniquely styled landscapes that he drew have been widely recognized. Especially, the ones he drew for the paper sliding doors and screens of Toshodai-ji (refer to #477) allowed him to gain nationwide popularity.
