#701: Shohaku (category: artist)
Shohaku Soga was a Japanese painter in the 18th century. Born in 1730 in Kyoto (refer to #035) and died in 1781, he was good at ink wash painting.
Shohaku's mastery over bold space perception, ability to draw details with meticulous precision, and the skill to capture movement of the subject in accurate yet daring ways were outrageous. He is recognized as one of "the artists with fantastic imagination", along with Jakuchu Ito (refer to #700) and Rosetsu Nagasawa.
