Miyagi Prefecture is located in the northeastern part of Honshu Island (refer to #062). It belongs to the Tohoku region (refer to #136).
Facing the Pacific Ocean, Miyagi was one of the hardest hit by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that occurred on March 11th, 2011.
