Shimane Prefecture is located in the western part of Honshu Island (refer to #062). It belongs to the Chugoku Region (refer to #140).
The Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine in this prefecture is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is also famous for Izumo-taisha (refer to #521).
