#164: Kitaca (category: smart card)
Kitaca, issued by JR Hokkaido (Hokkaido Railway Company), is one of the major smart cards in Japan as well as Suica (refer to #161), ICOCA (refer to #162), and TOICA (refer to #163). Among them, Kitaca is used mainly in the Hokkaido region (refer to # 143).
The name "Kitaca" indicates "kita (meaning northern area) card". Its character Ezo-momonga (Siberian flying squirrel) was designed by Sora, a local artist living in Sapporo (refer to #060).
