#980: Yamaguchi (category: prefecture)
Yamaguchi Prefecture is located at the western end of Honshu Island (refer to #062). It belongs to the Chugoku Region (refer to #140).
The Kanmon Railway Tunnel, which connects Yamaguchi Prefecture with Fukuoka Prefecture (refer to #965) at the northeastern corner of Kyushu Island (refer to #063) via an undersea connection, was completed in 1942.
